Mortimer  1   Wraysbury Village 3

(OG, Landi, Homes)

The Stags make it back-to-back wins with an impressive performance away at a rainy Mortimer.

Our first Wednesday night game since the restart and despite playing in the heavy rain we certainly didn’t disappoint.

Just hours before kick-off though it was starting to look like we might have been thin on the ground with it being midweek and players having work commitments, players were dropping out but we managed to start with a strong squad.

Mortimer were certainly one of our toughest opponents this season but fortunately for us we went that step further. The goals for us came from an own goal, Gary Homes with his second of the season and the pick of the bunch coming from Ben Landi to notch his first of the campaign. A stunning strike from the midfielder who has really started to find his feet in recent games.

There were appearances from the bench for Mark Sangster, Josh Christopher and Cristiano Nascimento, who himself grabbed an assist along with Billy Hart. Unfortunately, there was no appearance off the bench for Paul Abbott who was sent-off without even getting a kick of the ball for bad mouthing the referee.

All in all, a positive result and another 3 points going forward for our quest for glory this season. There are a few contenders up there this season and we definitely feel we are one of them.

Man of the Match went to Ben Landi for a brilliant display in the middle and even better goal.

The Stags (3-5-2): Bonnett; Pitt (Nascimento), Dewhurst, Reed (c) (Sangster); Fairhall, Sumner, Homes, Landi, Hart; Anum, Sillah.

Goalscorers: Own Goal, Landi, Homes.

Sent-off: Abbott
